TIPS SOUGHT ON SUBURBAN 3 AM HOME INVASION SUSPECT
Couple startled to find man standing at foot of their bed

Cook County Sheriff’s Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who broke into a southwest suburban couple’s home and while he didn’t appear to have stolen anything, the family noted he behaved erratically.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 16400 block of Lee Avenue in Orland Park. A female resident of the home told police she awoke because a child in the home was calling out for her. That woman woke to find the man standing above her. He was wearing only a black hoodie sweatshirt and women’s underwear.
She saw him move to the foot of the bed and lay down, in an apparent attempt to avoid being seen by anyone. But when a man in the room yelled out, the suspect replied in a deep voice, then calmly walked out of the room.

The adults in the home quickly checked on children living there and found all to be unharmed. Though the suspect walked past valuable items en route to the bedroom where he was seen, nothing appeared to be missing from the home. A side door was open and is likely the way the suspect entered and left the home.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, around 6-feet tall with a thin build and light colored long hair pulled back into a pony tail or bun hairstyle.

Anyone with information on the incident should call the Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigations unit at 708-865-4896 or the radio communications center at 847-635-1188.

Woman Robbed in Wilmette Home on Marian Ln: What’s So Unusual About This Case?

$
0
0

A woman was walking out of her house to walk her dog about 9:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Marian Lane in Wilmette when three masked men forced their way into the home — one armed with a gun.

The offenders tied the woman with plastic ties gagged, ransacked her home and took jewelry and money.

Family members returned to the house about 10:30 p.m. and rescued the woman from her restraints. The woman suffered minor in juries on her arms and wrists while she was dragged and tied up. She was transported to a local hospital. The dog was found unharmed.

Veteran police officers know that many home invasions involve offenders that know the victim(s) and they are looking for drugs or weapons that the offenders know are in the house. The proceeds that these offenders took are more common with the average burglar. Most burglars don’t want any contact with victims, but these offenders obviously didn’t care because they attacked while the victim was leaving her home.

The woman’s family owns a restaurant in Chicago, and the woman appears to have been specifically targeted.

Wilmette police urge anyone with information about the crime to call Detective Sgt. Michael McGarry at 847-920-3505.

Victims tried to give home invader Dalton Smith, 30, their TVs, computers and jewelry to appease the offender that was wanted for a parole violation. He grabbed Jessica Rebello in a headlock and told the victims, “I can’t go back to jail! when Nassau County police officers arrived about 2:20 a.m. Friday May 17, 2013.
