Rolling Meadows police say that about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 28, 2016 a group posed as a church group asking for donations at the front door of a home on Cardinal Drive in Rolling Meadows. After being greeted at the front door, they allegedly forced their way into the house, knocked the woman to the floor, demanded money, and took items from her house. They fled in a vehicle that was not described by police.

More suspect photos at bottom of page

CORRECTION: Earlier it was reported that a Cook County prisoner transport bus driver discovered the suspects’ vehicle, but a Streamwood Police prisoner transport van driver put “the eye” on the vehicle.

A Streamwood Police prisoner transport van driver in the area matched the description of the vehicle and/or the suspects described inside the vehicle, which were believed to be connected to the home invasion and robbery. Additionally, the area — as usual — had a large presence of police vehicles in the area because the victim’s home is only 3,800 feet from the front driveway of the Cook County Rolling Meadows Courthouse. There are usually 15-30 police cars from area police agencies at the courthouse or on the way to the courthouse for court dates or other court duties at that time of day.

A chase developed from Rolling Meadows to Schaumburg, where the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a tree after exiting southbound Route 53 to Higgin Road. Some or all of the suspects then fled north on foot through the Streets of Woodfield parking lot and were captured near Dick’s Sporting Goods, 601 North Martingale Road. Schaumburg police and Streamwood police were also involved in the chase that ended near Streets of Woodfield.

Three of the suspects in the group are men, and have been charged with Home Invasion/Armed/Force charges on $1 million bond or no bond. They were booked today and remain in Cook County jail.

A fourth suspect is a woman, who was charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding from Police, and was held on $200,000 bond. She also remains in Cook County jail.

A fifth person with the group, a 24-year-old woman, was detained and released without charges.

Justin Cortes, age 20, a male/black, 5’11” 150 LBS of Chicago was charged with Aggravated DUI and possibly Home Invasion charge. Court documents are possibly in error showing two charges for Aggravated DUI with no bond. His next court date is July 1, 2016.

Robert Cutler, 31, a male/white, 5’9″ 188 LBS of Hoffman Estates was charged with Home Invasion/Armed/Force and held on $1 million bond. His next court date is July 21, 2016.

Vladimir Georges, age 21, male/black, 6’1″ 185 LBS of Palatine was charged with Home Invasion/Armed/Force and held on $1 million bond. His next court date is July 21, 2016.

Sarah Wendy, age 22, 5’4″ 115 LBS of Glenview was charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding from Police, and was held on $200,000 bond. Her next court date is July 21, 2016.

The fifth person — the woman who was released and not charged — was not named by police.

 IMPORTANT ALERT …

Cardinal Note: As of June 5, 2013 — up to and including the date of this article — police incidents related to the above police agency are not reported in real time or within a prompt time period. Police protecting their realm of investigation and police activity, have chosen to use secret military-grade encrypted radios to withhold their police communications, which were previously open to the public and news media via monitoring of public safety scanning radios — with no known negative results locally.

The delayed knowledge or entirely blacked out knowledge resulting from encrypted police communications may protect certain police operations and investigations, but it also puts the public at risk in situations such as when armed and dangerous offenders are at large and when other similar situations occur, such as when desperate offenders of property crimes are eluding police. In other cases, the delayed or blacked out information inhibits or prohibits the possibility of the public providing early witness accounts before a criminal trail goes cold. Citizens are much more likely to recognize or recall suspicious or criminal activity if they are aware of the criminal incident within minutes or hours of its occurrence. The most serious incident involving dire results would be a trail that is allowed to go cold in the case of child abduction.

The lack of real time information from public police dispatch also weakens an effective neighborhood watch program mostly working to prevent property loss, but also working to prevent possible violent crimes.

Lack of real time information from police dispatch also delays public awareness or eliminates public awareness of general hazards and traffic or other situations in everyday living in an otherwise economically thriving community.

Police have alternate ways to transmit tactical, operational or investigative information, while still keeping their main public dispatch channels open for the best balance of public safety and police safety.

Schaumburg police report that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of Home Invasion and Attempted Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault against Saul Salazar — 5’5″ 150 LBS male/hispanic; born July 16, 1976. Salazar resides in the 2000 block of Sycamore Ave., Hanover Park, IL. Salazar was book for the felony charges on July 1, 2016.

On May 29, 2016, Schaumburg Police responded to the 2700 block of Odlum Drive for a report of a Criminal Sexual Assault. The offender, unknown to the victim, allegedly entered the victim’s residence without permission, and groped the victim while she was sleeping. The victim woke up while this was taking place and the offender fled the residence. A Community Alert was sent out following the incident to inform the residents. Fingerprint evidence recovered from the scene was confirmed by an independent laboratory to be a match for Saul Salazar.

Schaumburg Detectives notified Streamwood Police due to a previous arrest of Salazar by their agency in 2009. Streamwood Detectives worked closely with Schaumburg Detectives in a joint effort to investigate additional similar Streamwood cases.

On June 29, 2016, Schaumburg Police Detectives, Special Operations Investigators, Streamwood Detectives, and Elgin Detectives all worked together to locate Saul Salazar near his home in the 2000 block of Sycamore Ave. in Hanover Park, IL. Schaumburg Special Operations Investigators took him into custody without incident.

Streamwood Police Department has charges approved for Home Invasion and Aggravated Sexual Assault for one incident in Streamwood. Streamwood continues to investigate other similar incidents.

Court records indicate Salazar (birth year 1977) was held on $2 million bail and that his next scheduled court date is July 21, 2016 at Rolling Meadows Circuit Court.

Home invasion, robbery, aggravated domestic battery suspect

Mount Prospect Police Department responded approximately 2:45 PM Monday, September 5, 2016 to a report of a robbery at a house in the 300 block of North Main Street (Route 83) near Isabella Street and about halfway between US 14 and US 12. While enroute, officers learned the offender(s) had fled, southbound on Main Street in a black Lincoln sedan. Upon arrival at the scene, police say they located a female and male victim who stated Javier Noveron — the female’s ex-boyfriend — had unlawfully entered the house and confronted them in the basement.

Police say Noveron allegedly took the female’s phone as she attempted to call 9-1-1. The victims went upstairs to the kitchen to get away from Noveron, but he followed them, grabbed a knife in the kitchen and threatened the male victim with it. The male victim was able to escape the residence without any injury. Noveron followed the female victim back downstairs, where he grabbed the female around the neck with his hands and began strangling her, releasing her after several seconds. Noveron exited the residence and got into a black Lincoln sedan, fleeing southbound on Main Street (Route 83) toward Northwest Highway. The female suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack. The female victim was assessed by Mount Prospect Fire Department firefighter/paramedics at the scene.

Meanwhile, Mount Prospect police officers observed the black Lincoln sedan in the area of Main Street (Route 83) and Northwest Highway (Route 14) where a high risk traffic stop was conducted with police officers surrounding the Lincoln. Officers took five occupants of the Lincoln into custody without incident and transported them to the police station. Upon further investigation, it was determined four of the occupants of the Lincoln were not involved in any criminal activity at the house and were released without being charged. The fifth occupant, Javier Noveron, was charged after all of the parties involved were interviewed by a representative from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, the Mount Prospect Police Department charged Javier Noveron, 19 years old, of 2 Whipple Tree Road, Wheeling, with two counts of Home Invasion, one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery, and one count of Robbery from an incident on Monday, September 5.

On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, Noveron was transported to a bond hearing at the 3rd District Courthouse of Cook County in Rolling Meadows. He appeared before the Honorable Judge Cataldo, where his bond was set at $500,000. “D”. Suspect Caught by Mount Prospect Police Immediately After Home Invasion, Attempted Sexual Assault at Apartment

$

0

Mount Prospect police responded about 3:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 after an attempted sexual assault of a female resident in a Mount Prospect apartment. Initially, about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a 25-year-old woman returned home from work and discovered an open window. After closing and locking the window and bolting the front door, she changed clothes, ate and went to bed.

About 3 a.m., she awoke with a man on top of her. Allegedly, the man was also striking her head. The offender squeezed her throat and covered her face with a pillow, making it difficult for her to breath, according to police. The woman was able to defend herself, and the offender fled. Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney David Mennie explained details of the attack at the suspect’s bond hearing

The woman locked her bedroom door and called police, and when police arrived, they found a suspect, Luis Del Peral-Velazco, 28, according to Mennie. Mount Prospect police encountered Del Peral-Valazco walking outside the apartment wearing bloodstained clothing. He also had fresh scratches on his face, neck and chest and fresh blood on his hands, according to Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney David Mennie. Del Peral-Valazco was “unable to explain to police on the scene how he sustained the injuries, or where he was coming from,” according to Mennie. Del Peral-Valazco was subsequently charged with aggravated attempted sexual assault, home invasion and aggravated battery.

Mennie said, during Del Peral-Velazco’s bond hearing, that Del Peral-Velazco used a piece of clothing to tie the woman’s hands and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim broke free, punched and scratched Del Peral-Velazco, and screamed as he fled the room, Mennie said.

Del Peral-Velazco was ordered held on $1 million bail Tuesday, and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 3, 2017.

Latest Home Invasion, Rape Could Be 4th Crime By Same Suspect at East Park Apartment on Alqonquin Pkwy, Rolling Meadows

$

East Park apartment complex site of several rapes.

FOUR CRIMES IN 6 MONTHS

Rolling Meadows police said Monday July 11, 2017 that they believe the man responsible for a home invasion and sexual assault on the city’s south side at East Park apartments on June 30, 2017 is the same person behind at least three similar break-ins and another sexual assault since December 2017 at nearby apartments.

The most recent attack involved a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred in the early morning hours of June 30, 2017 at the East Park Apartments in the block of 4800 Algonquin Parkway. Police said the male offender knocked on the victim’s front door, forced his way inside when the victim answered the door, and sexually assaulted the victim at knife point.

The attack is similar to an attack that occurred January 14, 2017 in the same apartment complex. In that case, a man knocked on the door of the victim’s apartment about 6:45 a.m., forced his way in, and assaulted the woman while armed with a knife.

In both cases, the offender was described as a Hispanic male about 5-foot to 5’1″ 160 LBS.

Police believe the same male offender broke into nearby residences in December 2016 and February 2017.

On December 28, 2016, a man entered an apartment in the block 5000 block Weber Drive through an unlocked and partially open bedroom window. The offender demanded money from a victim who had been sleeping. Another person living in the apartment walked into the room, and the suspect jumped out of the window and fled.

Police say residents should not open their doors to someone who knocks without first verifying who is outside. They also should call 911 about any suspicious people near their homes.

Anyone with information about the crimes are urged to call the Crime Tip Hotline at 847-506-6024 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 847-590-7867. Crime Stoppers tips are anonymous and callers can receive rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Police in the northwest suburbs are looking at a series of violent break-ins. CBS 2’s Jeremy Ross reports.

Naperville police responded before 9:49 AM Monday September 18, 2017 to a report of home invasion, domestic battery, and also an aggravated battery to a police officer near White Thorn Circle and Sheehan Drive Naperville, IL. The crime scene location was a townhouse subdivision, just northeast of Route 59 and 95th Street.

The suspect was described as a male/black last seen northbound from the location, driving a maroon 2006 Nissan Murano, and the suspect was reported to be armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

Naperville firefighter/paramedics were dispatched to the scene about 9:49 a.m., after a police officer was injured trying to stop the suspect from fleeing the scene. However, the suspect fled the Naperville area, but was later captured in Villa Park, which is about 13 miles northeast of Naperville.

Suspect Quincy Devon Watson was located and arrested later the same day in Villa Park. The Naperville police officer injured at the scene remained at Edward Hospital at least through Tuesday, September 19, 2017 for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Naperville Police secured home invasion, aggravated battery and domestic battery charges against Chicago resident Quincy Devon Watson, who is accused of forcing entry into a Naperville home in a domestic-related dispute on Monday, September 18, and injured an officer while fleeing the scene.

Quincy Devon Watson, 36, of the 2000 block of West 68th Street in Chicago, is charged with the following:

Domestic Battery (2 counts) – Class A Misdemeanor
Home Invasion – Class X Felony
Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer – Class 2 Felony

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Antonio Jones, 32, of the block of 1000 West 14th Street, Chicago was arrested Monday December 11, 2017 by Arlington Heights police investigators with awareness and assistance of Chicago Department. Arlington Heights police kept Jones’ home and cell phone location under surveillance, before making an arrest in connection with an Arlington Heights home invasion in May 2017. Antonio Jones was also charged with possession of a controlled substance when illegal drugs were found at his home.

Antonio Jones is the alleged drug dealer of a drug-consuming relative of an elderly couple that were victims of a home invasion on Brittany Drive in Arlington Heights. The couple’s relative told Antonio Jones that a large sum of money was in the couple’s house. The relative was living with the couple at the time, and had mentioned a bag of cash to Jones only several days before the home invasion.

Shortly after learning of the large sum of money in the house on Brittany Drive, Jones and another man entered the home, wearing masks about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Police and prosecutors say the two men held the 85-year old man and his 78-year old wife at gunpoint at their residence, forced them to the floor, and acquired $50,000 in the basement at their residence. The whereabouts of the relative at the time of the crime was not known, or was not revealed by police. The elderly residents were not injured, and the suspects were gone within five minutes. The men fled with the bag containing $50,000, and the couple were able to call police after they left.

Police have not mentioned whether the relative faced any charges or whether a plea bargain was involved. However, Arlington Heights police did reveal that the victims’ relative gave police the cellphone number for Antonio Jones, who police were able to track via wireless cellphone and cell tower technology. Jones’ location was tracked by the cell phone number provided by the victims’ relative, who revealed to police during investigation that Jones was his drug dealer. Also, during the police investigation, the victims’ relative revealed to police that he had mentioned the large sum of money to Jones before the home invasion.

At a court hearing, it was revealed that Antonio Jones’ girlfriend purchased a new BMW with $29,000 cash the day after the May 17, 2017 home invasion.

When Jones was arrested Monday, December 11, 2017, he was found in possession of 51 small plastic Baggies containing a substance that was discovered to be heroin, according to Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Alyssa Grissom.

At Rolling Meadows Cook County Circuit Court Wednesday December 13, 2017, Antonio Jones (5’6″ 180 LBS) was ordered held without bail, charged with home invasion and robbery [720 ILCS 5/19-6(a)(3) HOME INVASION/FIREARM], and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

As of Wednesday, no one else had been charged. Jones’ next court date was is scheduled for January 5, 2018.
